Organizational knowledge, memory, and intelligence layer spanning all agents and humans.
summary
The knowledge fabric is the organizational brain — a centralized, living
knowledge and intelligence layer that captures, organizes, updates, and
makes queryable everything the company knows. Unlike per-agent context
(Layer 5 runtime), this layer persists across agents, sessions, and users.
It encompasses vector stores, knowledge graphs, document indexes, decision
logs, process memory, and semantic search — serving both humans and AI agents.
responsibilities
- Persist and retrieve organizational knowledge across agent sessions
- Index and embed documents, code, decisions, conversations
- Provide semantic search and context-aware retrieval
- Maintain knowledge graph of entities, relationships, and decisions
- Track provenance and confidence of information
- Synchronize knowledge across multiple agents and human users

This layer sits above individual agent concerns. Where Layer 5 (runtime)
manages per-session context and compaction, Layer 12 manages persistent
organizational knowledge that any agent or human can query. The boundary
is persistence scope: runtime context dies with the session, knowledge
fabric persists indefinitely.
