Codex App-Server overview
OpenAI Codex's app-server protocol. A long-lived subprocess that exposes Codex's agentic loop + tool/MCP plumbing as a JSON-RPC service over stdio, SSE, or WebSocket. Consumed by external clients (Symphony, custom hosts). No bundled UI — clients build their own surface.
